Ensuring Equal Access for Food Allergy Prevention
We’ve partnered with Ready. Set. Food! to help fund their Giving Back Program, which gives equal access for early allergen introduction and in turn helps prevent food allergies for all families, no matter what their circumstances may be. Ready. Set. Food! has committed to donating its early allergen introduction product (over $200 value) to families in need.
“Ready. Set. Food! was founded to help every baby have a healthier future, free from food allergies. But unfortunately, the food allergy epidemic impacts lower income communities disproportionately,” explains Daniel Zakowski, Ready. Set. Food! CEO and Co-Founder. “No family should have to deal with the burdens associated with food allergies, no matter where they come from. We’re honored to work with PreventAllergies.org to help expand our Giving Back Program. With the support of partners and donors, we’ll be able to advance our 1:1 commitment and provide early allergen introduction resources to low income communities."
Ready. Set. Food!’s commitment to making early food allergen introduction accessible for all is critical to advancing our shared mission to transform the health and lives of children and families. Donate now to join this important mission and help fund access to life-saving food allergy prevention.

Low Income Families Spend 2.5 More on Food Allergy Care
Emergency Department and Hospitalization Costs $
Up to 1 in 13 children suffers from a food allergy today. In addition, new research reveals low income communities are impacted significantly by food allergies. Lower income families have to spend an average of 2.5 times more on allergy-related hospital costs per year, likely due to the high costs of and limited access to specialty allergist care to manage a child’s food allergy. Lower income families also struggle to afford life-saving epinephrine to manage severe allergic reactions. This startling data underscores the need for equal access to early allergen introduction, which research shows can prevent up to 80% of food allergies, giving all families a healthier start and in turn, a better quality of life.
Giving Back Program Improves Lives: Meet Birdie
“We are so thankful for the giving back program, I lost my non-profit job after 14 years due to COVID when I was 8 months pregnant and to say I was stressed was an understatement!! I can't say thank you enough for helping us! Our little girl is now 5 months, and I feel in control of at least this little bit of her life and that I did everything I could to help prevent any future allergy thanks to this program. Thank you!!”
